At the first industry meeting on Formulation of Adhesives Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAM on May 15th and 16th 2019 in Bremen, we participated with an interesting lecture. In line with this year’s topic “Bio-based raw materials for adhesives and sealants” Dr. Michael Blumenstein discussed the possibilities offered by oleochemical raw materials for adhesive applications. The following aspects were outlined:
- Use of UV-active binders
- Use of Polyols / polyisocyanate
- Use of EP systems with polyaminoamide adducts
- Opportunities and benefits of polymers based on natural raw materials
In addition, Prof. Dr. Andreas Hartwig from the Fraunhofer IFAM gave a talk on the BioDur funding project, in which we have successfully developed bio-based adhesives together with two other industrial partners, Jowat SE and Wellmann Technologies GmbH.
