Merginol now has a second point of contact at HOBUM Oleochemicals GmbH. Alongside research and development, Georg Bourscheidt is responsible for the biobased polyols in technical sales. He has been with the team since September 28, 2026 and serves customers across Germany. He started with his onboarding. This week he is contacting his first customers.
Bourscheidt brings 40 years in the chemical industry, 26 of them in sales and marketing of two-component polyurethane and epoxy systems. He trained as a chemical production technician at Henkel AG & Co. KGaA in Düsseldorf and holds a qualification in industrial floor coatings from Technische Akademie Esslingen, plus further training in paints, coatings and adhesives. For about 14 years he worked in the production of organic specialty products, among them biobased polyols, polyester polyols and additives for paints and coatings. He then moved into application technology for coating and inks at Cognis GmbH, where he handled customer projects for coatings, adhesives and potting compounds. From 2010 to 2026 he worked at BASF Personal Care and Nutrition GmbH in Düsseldorf, most recently as technical sales manager. His longest experience is with biobased polyols, waterborne epoxy systems and isocyanates. In technical sales he works with two colleagues in inside sales. Two product managers from research and development and one colleague from application technology provide the technical backing.
One thing in particular drew him to oleochemistry: "The chance to replace petroleum-based binders with products made from renewable raw materials." He is matter-of-fact about the price gap to petroleum-based raw materials: in high-value applications, he says, the performance of biobased products is worth that price.
On what customers can expect from him, in his own words: "Customers can expect an innovative and high-quality portfolio from HOBUM. My job is to explain these products technically and to make targeted recommendations that bring new customer projects to a successful conclusion."
